Waldinger Acquires IRS

The Waldinger Corporation and Industrial Refrigeration Services, Inc. (IRS) joined forces when The Waldinger Corporation acquired IRS on June 24, 2019.

Based in Ankeny, Iowa, IRS has operated as an industrial refrigeration and electrical contractor since 1992. Founded in 1906 and headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, The Waldinger Corporation – known for mission critical and other high-profile projects – is a full-service mechanical and electrical contractor with multiple locations. Waldinger is the largest round-the-clock, truck-based service provider delivering maintenance and repair services to customers throughout the Midwest.

Both companies install, repair and maintain heating, ventilating and air conditioning and refrigeration systems in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities. Combined, the two companies have 760 construction professionals and tradespeople – including over 120 service technicians – in Iowa. Both have a strong presence in small, service-related, technically-demanding project arenas.

Leaders from each company cite shared values, expanded services to customers and increased opportunity for employees as key to the acquisition decision. Waldinger Des Moines Mechanical Division President David Stroh says, “We have very strong people in both organizations.
